Type A Jadeite Gourd Pendant, Icy Floating Flowers, 18K Gold

A natural Type A jadeite gourd (hulu) pendant in icy texture with floating green flowers, set in 18K white gold. The jadeite measures 19.2 × 13.7 × 4.8 mm.

The icy body is clear and lively, and green flowers drift all through the stone in lighter and deeper patches, richest in the lower bulb, like green spreading through water. The gourd is left smooth and full, so its rounded surfaces show the icy glow clearly in the light. A white gold claw-and-rim setting protects the stone, with a bow-shaped bail above, a simple, neat frame that keeps the green looking fresh. In Chinese, hulu sounds like "fu lu", fortune and prosperity, which makes the gourd one of the most loved good-luck motifs.
