A natural Type A jadeite gourd pendant in icy texture, clear and colorless, with a gold bail, about 18.6 × 13.7 × 6.2 mm.

Icy jadeite is fine-grained and highly translucent, so light passes through it with a clear, watery glow. Clean and flawless: the gourd, small above and larger below, is as clear as rock sugar, with both bulbs full and round and a smooth, gel-like surface. There is no extra carving, so light fills the whole piece. Gold bail at the top.

In Chinese, "hulu" (gourd) sounds close to "fu lu", blessings and prosperity, and with its long vines and many seeds the gourd is a much-loved traditional shape. A plain gourd has soft, rounded lines that feel good in the hand; at 18.6 mm it suits women and men, and it is a thoughtful gift for a family with a new baby.

As a natural mineral, jadeite nearly always carries some growth marks such as cotton or stone lines; they do not affect wear.
