A natural Type A jadeite cabochon ring in icy-glutinous texture, an even lavender, set in real gold. The stone measures about 10.7 × 10 × 5 mm; ring inner diameter 16.9 mm.

Icy-glutinous jadeite sits between icy and glutinous: fine-grained and semi-translucent, with a soft glow. A beautiful color: the nearly round cabochon is full and high-domed, an even, rich lavender all over that shows well in the gold setting. The trade calls lavender jadeite chun se (春色, "spring color"), and the deeper the shade, the rarer it is.

A cabochon is jadeite polished into a smooth dome, the cut that shows color and translucency best and the classic choice for a set ring. An inner diameter of 16.9 mm is about US size 6.5; please measure your finger before ordering.

As a natural mineral, jadeite nearly always carries some growth marks such as cotton or stone lines; they do not affect wear. The lavender of this ring (16.9 mm inside) is sensitive to light: warmer light pulls it pink, daylight pulls it blue. The gold setting reflects light, so photos can look a little brighter than the piece. Screens show color differently, so it helps to check the video as well.
