A natural Type A jadeite Guanyin pendant in icy texture, clear and clean, carved as a round plaque about 52.4 mm across and 5.9 mm thick, on a braided cord.

Icy jadeite is fine-grained and highly translucent, so light passes through it with a clear, watery glow. This piece is clear throughout and nearly colorless, with a strong glow. Guanyin sits cross-legged within the circle, her face serene and her robes carved in flowing lines; the back follows the outline of the figure.

Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion, is one of the most classic jadeite carving subjects. A traditional saying has men wear Guanyin and women wear the Buddha, but today both are worn by anyone. At 52 mm this is a large, substantial plaque that sits well on the chest.

Like all natural jadeite (also known as Burmese jade), this pendant may show small natural features such as stone lines or fine cotton, and its colors look slightly different in different light. Please judge it from the photos and video, which show the actual pendant.
