A natural Type A jadeite wu shi pai (无事牌) plaque pendant in lavender, set in real gold, about 38.3 × 18.7 × 7.3 mm including the gold.

Glutinous jadeite is fine-grained and softly translucent, with a gentle, moist look like cooked sticky rice. A beautiful color: the plaque is an even, soft lavender, fine and smooth with a polished plain face, and the top of the bail carries a touch of vivid green, the lavender-and-green pairing the trade calls chun cai (春彩). The slim, tapering plaque is set in real gold and ready to hang on a chain.

A wu shi pai (无事牌) is a plain, uncarved plaque. Its name means "nothing amiss", a wish for a peaceful, untroubled life, and the plain face shows the quality of the jade best. It suits women and men alike. Chun se (春色) and zi luo lan (紫罗兰) are the trade names for lavender jadeite.

Every natural jadeite has its own texture; look closely and you may find a tiny cotton spot or a stone line. The lavender of this plaque is sensitive to light: warmer light pulls it pink, daylight pulls it blue. The gold setting reflects light, so photos can look a little brighter than the piece.
