Type A Jadeite Plain Tablet, Icy Yellow, 18K Gold, 24mm

A natural Type A jadeite plain tablet (wu shi pai) pendant in icy texture, icy yellow (light yellow jadeite), set in 18K white gold. The stone is about 24 × 12.7 × 3.4 mm.

A distinctive piece. The top of the tablet is nearly colorless and icy-clear, and the yellow builds slowly toward the bottom into a warm honey shade, like honey settling in a glass of water. Icy yellow jadeite is uncommon to begin with, and a clean pale-to-deep gradient like this is harder still to find. The white gold frame wraps all four edges, with an openwork back that lets light through so you can see the color better.

A wu shi pai is a small plain rectangle with no carving, a wish for a life without trouble. Yellow is often seen as a color of wealth in jadeite, and its warmth flatters most skin tones. At 12.7 mm wide and 3.4 mm thin it hangs lightly and never feels heavy.
