A small natural Type A jadeite pendant in icy yellow (冰黄, icy pale yellow jadeite), a drop shape narrow at the top and wider below, with a gold bail, about 15.1 × 8.6 × 4 mm.

Icy jadeite is fine-grained and highly translucent, so light passes through it with a clear, watery glow. The seller called it "unusual and flawless": the color is a very pale lemon yellow, so clear that you can see the lines of the hand behind it, and the sides are cut in a few crisp facets that send light moving through it as it turns, like a drop of set honey. Icy yellow jadeite is not common, and this one is clean and even in color.

At 15 mm this little drop is light and discreet, made for wearing every day without taking it off, and it layers well with other necklaces. Pale yellow looks warm and bright and is at its best on a fine gold chain; it also makes a thoughtful small gift for a friend.
