Type A Jadeite Safety Coin, Icy Pale Qingshui, 25.7mm, Loose

A natural Type A jadeite safety coin (平安扣) in icy texture, pale qingshui, 25.7 mm across and 5 mm thick. It is a loose piece with no setting, cord or bail.

Icy jadeite is fine-grained and highly translucent, so light passes through it with a clear, watery glow. The seller said "great texture, perfect". The coin is a very pale blue-green, close to colorless, clear enough to show the lines on the back of the hand, and a soft glow sits in the middle of the dome and moves as you turn it. Light and understated in color, it is the kind of piece that grows on you.

25.7 mm falls between the small and standard sizes: just right for a woman, and fine for a man who wants something low-key. As a loose piece it is easy to put on a cord or a gold bail of your choice. A safety coin stands for completeness and safety, a good first piece of jadeite and a nice gift for a young person starting work.

As a natural mineral, jadeite nearly always carries some cotton or stone lines; they do not affect wear. On a phone screen the color of this 25.7 mm pale qingshui safety coin can look stronger or paler than it is, so the video in natural light is the best guide.

This 25.7 mm pale qingshui safety coin has its own certificate from an accredited national gem testing lab. Once inspection confirms the match it is packed and sent, shipping free and fully insured; any import tax is paid by the recipient.
