A natural Type A jadeite Guanyin pendant in icy texture, clear and clean, about 70 × 44.6 × 5.4 mm.

Icy jadeite is fine-grained and highly translucent, so light passes through it with a clear, watery glow. Clean and flawless, clear throughout and nearly colorless, with a faint warm tone in the halo. Guanyin sits upright on a lotus throne with a round halo behind her and hands joined in front; the lotus petals are full and rounded, polished to a flowing, watery shine.

Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion, is one of the most classic jadeite carving subjects. A traditional saying has men wear Guanyin and women wear the Buddha, but today both are worn by anyone. At 70 mm long it is a large, impressive piece to wear on a cord or chain. It comes without a bail, which can be added on request.

This is natural jadeite, so it may hold fine stone lines or small cotton-like flecks, marks left as the stone formed. This Guanyin pendant is icy and lets light through, so strong light shows its inner detail more clearly. Please judge it from the photos and video of the actual piece.
