Type A Jadeite Huaigu Donut Pendant, Pale Lavender, 20mm

A natural Type A jadeite huaigu donut pendant in icy-glutinous texture, pale lavender in color (the trade calls it 淡春, "light spring"). About 20.2 mm across and 11.3 mm thick.

Fresh and juicy. The whole piece is an even, soft lavender, like the pale violet of an early-morning sky, with no stray colors. The surface is polished to a bright luster, and a soft ring of light circles the small center hole. At 11.3 mm thick it is plump and rounded like a little bun; from the side it shows a full curve and it has a satisfying weight in the hand.

A huaigu is a round disc thicker than a safety coin, with a smaller hole, and it carries the same wish for safety and holding on to good fortune. This piece is sold loose, without a bail or cord: string it on red cord or a braided cord, hang it from a gold chain with a clasp, or use it as the centerpiece of a bead bracelet.

Lavender leans pink under warm light and bluer under white light; the video in natural light is the best guide. Up close you can see fine cotton texture, a normal feature of natural jadeite. All photos and the video are of this piece.
