Type A Jadeite Guanyin Pendant, Icy Clear, Lotus Seat, 68mm

A natural Type A jadeite Guanyin pendant in icy texture, clear and clean, about 67.6 × 41.3 × 5.4 mm.

Icy jadeite is fine-grained and highly translucent, so light passes through it with a clear, watery glow. This piece is clear throughout and nearly colorless. Guanyin sits upright on a lotus throne with a round halo behind her and hands joined in front; the lotus petals are full and rounded, polished to a flowing, watery shine.

Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion, is one of the most classic jadeite carving subjects. A traditional saying has men wear Guanyin and women wear the Buddha, but today both are worn by anyone. At 67.6 mm long it is a large, impressive piece to wear on a cord or chain.

Like all natural jadeite (also known as Burmese jade), this pendant may show small natural features such as stone lines or fine cotton, and its colors look slightly different in different light. Please judge it from the photos and video, which show the actual pendant.
