Type A Jadeite Laughing Buddha Pendant, Icy Clear, 34mm

A natural Type A jadeite laughing Buddha (佛公) pendant in icy texture, clear with a faint blue-green tint, about 30.8 × 33.5 × 6 mm.

Icy jadeite is fine-grained and highly translucent, so light passes through it with a clear, watery glow. Clean and flawless throughout, with a faint blue-green (晴水) tint showing in the round belly, so the light seems to flow through it. The Buddha smiles broadly, seated in a full, rounded pose with simple lines.

The laughing Buddha is Maitreya, whose big belly and broad smile stand for an open, tolerant and cheerful outlook; it is one of the most popular jadeite pendant subjects. A traditional saying has men wear Guanyin and women wear the Buddha, but today anyone wears either. It comes without a bail, which can be added on request.

This is natural material, and some areas may show faint cotton spots or stone lines, which are normal natural features. This 33.5 mm Buddha pendant is icy and lets light through, so strong light shows its inner detail more clearly. Before buying, go by the photos and video, all taken of this piece.
