Type A Jadeite Gourd Pendant, Clear Green, 18K Gold, 18mm

A natural Type A jadeite gourd pendant in icy texture, clear even green (qing lü), set in 18K white gold. The stone is about 17.5 × 11.3 × 3.8 mm.

Good texture and good color together. The whole gourd is one even, clear green, bright and translucent like a mint candy held up to the light, with a strong gel-like glow and no stray colors. Both lobes are full and rounded, with a clean waist between them. The 18K white gold setting rings the gourd with a row of small white stones that make the green look brighter, one more white stone sits on the bail, and the back is open.

The Chinese word for gourd (hulu) sounds like "fortune and prosperity" (fu lu), and with its long vine and many seeds it is one of the best-loved traditional shapes in jadeite. A 17.5 mm stone in its frame is a comfortable size: easy for everyday wear, bright enough for an occasion.

Clear green is a kind of full color: even, though not entirely without texture, and close up there may be very fine cotton specks, which are natural. The white gold and stones reflect light, so photos may look a little brighter than the piece; please go by the video. All photos and the video are of this piece.
