Type A Jadeite Pixiu Pendant, Green Patches, Cord, 32.5mm

A natural Type A jadeite pixiu pendant in icy-glutinous texture, a pale bluish-white body with a few patches of bright green, on a braided cord. About 32.5 × 16.3 × 11.9 mm.

Juicy and well finished. The pixiu lies crouched, its mane curling into cloud scrolls, with a smooth line down the back and tail and carving with real depth. The color gathers around the front paws and lower body: a few clouds of vivid green sit right under its feet, as if it stands on green, while the white body stays clear and glowing. At 11.9 mm deep it has real heft, and the carving in the round feels full and solid in the hand.

The pixiu is a mythical beast said to take wealth in and never let it out, so it stands for attracting and keeping money, and it is one of the favorite subjects among people in business. There is no metal setting; it hangs on a braided cord that you can swap for a gold chain or red string.

Where the color sits was decided by the rough, and the carver kept the green in the lower body on purpose. Recesses in a carving may hold fine stone lines or cotton, which are natural features. All photos and the video are of this piece; judge the color by the video.
