Type A Jadeite Lucky Melon Pendant, Icy, Gold Bail, 25mm

A natural Type A jadeite lucky melon (福瓜) pendant in icy texture, icy white, with a gold bail, about 25 × 10.6 × 5.2 mm.

Icy jadeite is fine-grained and highly translucent, so light passes through it with a clear, watery glow. The seller said "great texture, perfect". The melon is long and gently curved, left smooth with no surface carving so its outline does all the work, like a stretched-out drop of water. The clear stone glows faintly blue at the edges and looks clean and fresh. The yellow gold bail is a small flower with a bright-green cabochon at its heart and a few little stones around it.

In Chinese the melon calls up the saying 瓜瓞绵绵, generations following one another like melons on a vine, so it wishes a family many children and lasting good fortune and is a favorite gift for newlyweds or new parents. Long and slim at 25 × 10.6 mm, it sits delicately below the collarbone and stays low-key for everyday wear.

Natural jadeite shifts a little with the light, warmer indoors and fresher in daylight. Every photo and video of this 25 mm icy lucky melon shows this exact piece, with no color editing. The gold setting reflects light, so photos can look slightly brighter than the piece.
